研究领域为天然产物化学，重点开展南方特色药用或药食两用植物中化学成分的提取分离、结构鉴定、生物活性及其开发利用研究。2010年以来发表通讯作者或第一作者SCI收录研究论文32篇，其中Q1论文14篇。
已培养博士毕业生6名、硕士毕业生6名，其中1人获中国科学院院长优秀奖、3人获国家奖学金。

2022年计划招收海外博士研究生1名​。
