Research Interests

(1)  Genetics and Breeding Studies of Mollusks: 
Development of microsatellites and mtDNA markers, Genetic polymorphism and population structure analysis; Monitoring and assessment of genetic changes over breeding practices, species identification; construction of linkage maps. Oysters breeding and strain development using strategy of family, mass selections, polyploid induction and hybridization; Breeding and genetics studies of giant clams etc., culture and resources restoration.
(2)  Gene and Genomics Studies of Mollusks: 
Studies of mollucan traits’ expression mechanisms using molecular biology and bioinformatic technologies, as well as transcriptome, DGE and proteomics approach; Research for the functions and regulations of trait-related genes employing cloning and expression analysis, providing useful gene, genomic information and molecular tools for trait resolving and strain development.
(3)  Mitochondrial Genome and Molecular Phylogenetics in Mollusks: 
Studies of the evolutionary patterns in mitochondrial gene content and genome structure by comparative mitogenomic analyses of mollusks under phylogenetic framework; inferring phylogenetic relationships for species at different levels using complete mitogenomic DNA sequences.
