Research Areas

I): Molecular genetics and genetic Engineering: Focused on addressing the genetic or molecular basis for critical agronomic traits such as seed size and plant storage lipids biosynthesis in developing seeds and oleaginous cells, from cDNA, transcription factor, miRNA, imprinted gene, protein enzyme to environmental factors. Also, we develop diverse SSR, SNP markers and DNA sequences to investigate the genetic diversity and relationships among germplasms, facilitating QTL mapping of interesting traits and molecular breeding in oilseed plants.

II): Epigenetics and adaptation: Based on the response of DNA or histone methylation to stress, we try to dissect the potential molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying the DNA or histone methylation, gene expression and phenotypic response in plants at the cell and molecular levels.

III): New resource discovery and utilization: Based on taxonomic and ethnobotanical approaches, we try to discover new resource plants, in particular from wild oilseeds plants.
